Experience an adventure of a lifetime riding through old world Florida forest or blasting up the Peace River in an airboat with us today!

We offer various modes of fossil hunting using both airboats and swamp buggies, as well as other methods such as by van and/or by foot. These vary by availability. See below for current offerings. 

Tours are weather permitting. We will confirm 24 hours prior to ensure you get the best possible experience.

These weekend tours begin at 9am and run on Fridays, Saturdays  and Sundays. Enjoy a swamp buggy ride to a preselected secluded creek dig site, a fossil dig, and a ride back on the buggy at the conclusion. Recommended for those more physically able as light hiking and traversing is required. 

There is a minimum of 3 people, with a maximum of 5 people. We also have an option for a second buggy which will situate 5 more guests, but these are not guaranteed.  

Our most popular fossil service! Enjoy a ride to the fossil grounds in style on our airboats. Peace River fossils are world class and our grounds consistently put out amazing finds season after season. Dock to dock time 10am to 3pm. This is a family friendly adventure!

Minimum of 5 people with maximum of 18 people.

These are 4 hour tours from 9 am to 1 pm. All fossil hunting equipment is included. Variable walk in points to DeSoto County creeks and rivers, digging in various locations. A great alternative for a shorter, economical fossiling adventure!

Not for the beginner! This extreme tour is offered only a few times a year and consists of 8 to 10 hours of fossil hunting, with multiple options including a swamp buggy  ride, walking up to one mile of trails in our beautiful Florida wilderness and digging in multiple locations in our secluded creek OR riding an airboat up the Peace River, and digging in a private fossil-rich location. All fossil hunting equipment is provided. Limited availability and scheduling. 

Fossil Recovery Exploration offers this truly unique and legendary two day fossil hunting adventure only a few times a year. 

Experience old world Florida wilderness Fossil hunting, combining an airboat ride to multiple locations, or, even an airboat/swamp buggy combo (will be announced prior), along with  camping, dinner, live fireside Blues music, and more to make for a once in a lifetime experience!

This special event is weather permitting. 

Our newest addition to FRE offerings, and proving to be a crowd favorite in the process! This includes one of the longest airboat rides in FL to our secret location on the Peace River which has been putting out some of the best finds of recent times for us! Finding mammoth teeth, large mammal fossils and of course lots of large shark teeth (yes, and megs) is not uncommon and this is your best get at finding the good stuff! This tour runs from 9am to 3pm and is only available at select times.  

Our dry dig allows you to dig fossils as they lay naturally in the fossil layer via shovel and sifter.  It's the most honest fossil hunting you can find! 

Offered every Wednesday during the dry season/more frequently in summer,  we include all equipment & transportation to the site. Enjoy a short van ride through beautiful Florida backcountry and see native wildlife, plants and mind bending scenery on the way in. It runs 830 to 1230. The FIRST and ONLY raw land site fossil layer dig in Florida!

Enjoy our Ice Age intensive river fossil dig and airboat ride combined w/a little bit more learning and fun on the airboat! After our mammal/reptile heavy 'boneshelf' river dig, enjoy an extended airboat ride covering miles of pristine Peace River shoreline, learn about the history, see wildlife and enjoy some extra splash and turns on the airboat ride in the process. Mammoth finds here!

NOTE ***This is not a shark tooth intensive dig but some monster sharks teeth do occasionally surface here***
